Most people feel uneasy in a kayak the first time. But for anyone living with balance issues, that feeling is amplified significantly and the need for increased stability is a necessity. The answer to paddling safely and comfortably is all in our kayaks. Wheels To Water uses kayaks exclusively from Creating Ability, a company committed to designing and producing some of the most innovative adaptive paddling equipment available.
This starts with the seating system, which consists of a raised back with lateral supports. The entire system can be adjusted in a variety of different ways depending on the needs and size of the paddler. This allows a completely custom fit for each user, engineered for comfort but most importantly stability in the cockpit.
To make the kayak itself more stable, outriggers are mounted to the back deck. With two different position options, the paddler can choose where they want them and just how stable they want their kayak to be.
We also have a range of paddle adaptations available. If a paddler has limited grip or none at all, is missing an arm, or has limited strength in their upper extremities, we have the equipment to make it all possible.
In addition to providing independence ON the water, we want to make it as easy as possible to get people there. With the use of some unique transfer systems, participants don't have to worry about getting lifted around to get into a kayak.
We encourage you to visit Creating Ability as well to check out their wide range of adaptive products and see many of them in action.
